It works! Michael's new underwater toy

MJPW's 65th birthday presents were two cameras, an all-the-bells-and-whistles Sony Alpha SLT-A55 and a cheap-and-cheerful Olympus Tough, "shockproof and waterproof."

I'm not quite ready to tackle whittling down the 1300+ photos we took between us on the Nusa Tenggara trip, but as a taster I'll dump in the (relatively) modest number of pics Michael has chosen from those he took with the Olympus while snorkeling along coral reefs fringing the islands of Rawanan, Moyo, Satonda, Komodo, and Kelor.

  1. After shooting with a compact underwater camera, many people consider switching to a dSLR. The obvious advantages are lens choices with superior optics and different focal lengths, better image quality from a larger sensor and reduced shutter lag and focus delays.
